Grade 5 & 6 Poems from Australia

By Greg
Sitting next to the blazing fire
With nothing to hear or see
Except the noise of twanging wire
And the wind brushing through the trees.

As I take a sip of my bitter wine
I scoop the foof off the coals
And think to myself there's no better way to dine
Then think of all the lost souls.

All those poor unfortunates who've not found gold
All those days and night.
As luck fades it makes you cold
Without any candles and without any lights.

Australia - Leigh.

My home,
my life,
my world,
Australia
is one of the most beautiful places of all.
From its animals
to its earth.
The oceans are as beautiful as a twinkling star,
The forests are as lush
as the sparkling sand I lie on;
and as I watch the sky so clean and nice,
I wonder if it will still be here for my kids.
Maybe it will be brown,
all smoggy with a crowd of people and buildings;
or maybe there will be war,
with limping soldiers dragging their feet.

We need to look after
our home,
our life,
our world.

Animals - Steve.

A great bald eagle
Swoops the plains,
Livestock is missing
He's put to blame.

His eyes are wide open,
He looks down to see
His meal is just waiting,
Adead wallaby.

Deep in the bushland,
the predator waiting,
For some unfortunate animals
Awaiting their fates.

A great bald eagle
Swoops the plains.
Livestock is missing
He's put to blame.
