Kindergarten Schedule for 2011-2012
In an attempt to strike a balance between academics and social needs of kindergarten students and parent concerns regarding child-care and travel arrangements, we decided to follow a half-year rotation kindergarten schedule for the 2010-2011 year. With the exception of the early lunch break, parents and operators of the day care and after school programs had positive reports regarding this new schedule. Based on this feedback we will follow a half-year kindergarten schedule again for the 2011-2012 year. However, next year both the morning and afternoon rotating kindergarten sessions will align closely with the a.m. and p.m. sessions for students in grades 1 to 6. The morning kindergarten session will run from 8:20 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. and the afternoon kindergarten session will run from 12:20 p.m. until 2:25 p.m.
During the period from September 8, 2011 – January 31, 2012, Group A will attend the a.m. session between 8:20 a.m.-11:30 a.m. and Group B will attend the p.m. session between 12:20 p.m. – 2:25 p.m. Then during the period from February 1, 2012 until June 21, 2012, Group A will attend the p.m. session between 12:20 p.m. – 2:25 p.m. and Group B will attend the a.m. session between 8:20 a.m. -11:30 a.m.
A letter will be forwarded to all families mid – June outlining which session (a.m. or p.m.) the Kindergartens will be assigned starting September 8, 2011. This letter will also contain additional details about the Kindergarten program.
