École Mary Queen of Peace Elementary School

Our grade 6 boys’ basketball team will be hosting a tournament at the school May 24-26. We will be raising funds to purchase new glass backboards for the school gym. We will be selling tickets on a “Kids’ Gift Basket” to support this fundraiser. The basket will be drawn for at the end of the tournament. Tickets are $2.00 each and three for $5.00. The team will also be going class to class at recess and lunch on Friday, May 25. Students who wish to purchase tickets can do so on this date.

On Saturday, September 15, 2012 the workshop “Boys Smart Action Talk: How to Talk So Boys Will Listen and Listen so Boys Will Talk” will be in St. John’s. The workshop will be given by  Barry MacDonald an educator and a clinical counsellor specializing in understanding boys. We regularly send links to his newsletter to our parents and parents who have borrowed his book have found it very informative and useful. The workshop will be from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (Do not be alarmed if you do not see this time frame on the registration page). Registration for the workshop has started through his website www.mentoringboys.com. If you are interested in attending register early to get the early bird registration fee. Also, registration is limited.

Note: While St. Bon’s is providing the venue for this event, it is not a fundraiser for the school.

April 2012 Director’s Report

Parents/guardians of the Eastern School District are advised that registration for the 2013-2014 Kindergarten Program and Kinderstart will take place May 23-24, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. daily. Children must be five years of age on or
before December 31, 2013 in order to register. Your child’s MCP card and proof of address must be presented at the time of registration. For information on accessible K-12 facilities, please visit the District website (www.esdnl.ca) or contact the District Office (758-2372).
