Note from the School Council Regarding Library Volunteers

Do you remember how exciting it was to borrow a new book? Do you remember when you began to truly enjoy reading independently? Most of us have happy memories of our school libraries. Our school libraries played a large role in shaping our love of reading.

Currently, however, library services have been reduced within our school due to a shortage of volunteers. Particularly, since Christmas, there have not been enough volunteers to keep up with the necessary cataloguing and re-shelving to support the student book exchanges.   On a positive note, though, this problem can be easily and quickly resolved with the help of parent volunteers in the Learning Resource Centre/Library.

Potential Job Action

The Eastern School District have been advised by Chartwells that as of January 20, 2012, their unionized workers (CUPE Local 4885) are in a legal position to strike. A strike will impact our school.  Please read the notice below for further information.  Most importantly however, if job action does occur, there will be no cafeteria service in the school and students will need to bring their own meals.
